Breadcrumbs

Together with Ironclad Earthworks, Tayo Construction was asked to participate in the reconstruction of the Cascade Bridge in Banff Provincial Park. The original bridge was knocked out in 2013 by high water and flooding. This bridge is the longest free standing aluminum pedestrian bridge in North America, and the third largest in the world at the time of this writing. This project was quite challenging as we could not bring in heavy equipment, so the pieces that made up this bridge had to be pushed across scaffolding bolting together each stage. The concrete abutments were stamped with a charcoal release to bring that natural beauty of the environment back into what is mostly cold aluminum.

Brewster Bridge was a replacement bridge as the original bridge was washed out during the 2013 floodings. Tayo Construction executed the concrete framing and pouring; created decorative concrete wall abutments, and installed the metal girder infrastructure. The precast deck was flown in and placed into position, and each piece weighs almost 3000 kilograms and takes a steady hand and great communication from all partners to install safely. The original bridge was 13m long, but because of the impact of flooding the new bridge now spans 36m. Limited access and equipment restrictions made for a challenging project.

Tayo Construction was employed to replace a deterioating curb along a business district. We formed a standard rolled curb for a parking lot.

There are many ways to add dual use to your home. This particular homeowner wanted to move their car off the street, and also have a place where they could entertain their friends at a backyard BBQ. This carport/patio was met all their requirements. We used a random rock stamp to add texture and more visual appeal to the concrete with a charcoal release. Texturing concrete adds more interest to your projects and there are many options to choose from. Please see our products page for more examples. The final application is sealing the concrete with a high gloss sealer which made the texturing and release really pop.
