Concrete end treatments are used where frost and heave are susceptible of deforming and breaking corrugated steel culverts. This work involves placing rounded formwork and placing and finishing concrete at varying angles. We have already built four of these end treatments and are preparing to build five more in the coming month.
The slopes used to stabilize the ground around this bridge were cast in place slabs. Construction involved different challenges, such as working on a sloped surface, pouring using very low plasticity concrete, or low slump, and imprinting sections of the slab with a stone pattern and colored concrete. The end result corresponds to the plans and specifications and contributes to the modern look of the bridge.
This home owner's concrete driveway, wall and slab had been left unfinished by the previous contractor and he needed some one reliable to finish the job. At the highest the wall is 14 feet high and 12 inches thick. Structural integrity of the formwork is a crucial aspect of the construction. Poor workmanship or under-design of the formwork can cause failure or deformities under the pressure of the concrete. This project is still in progress and the pouring of the driveway slab will commence when the ground thaws this spring.
The Spray Bridge is a replacement bridge to the Banff Springs golf course. This project was in conjunction with Ironclad Earthworks. Tayo Construction was enlisted to build out all the concrete framing and pour the material. We helped lay in the girder framework, backing and deckwork and ramped up the abutments.
